Ken Blanchard met Robert Greenleaf in the late 1960s when Blanchard was at Ohio University and Greenleaf came to spend a weekend with the students. Blanchard is convinced that Servant Leadership is the foundation for effective leadership. In his Foreword to Focus on Leadership, Blanchard said:
